My fotobabble was pretty easy to make but sometimes I had trouble because I was using an inbuilt microphone which makes your voice quieter then you would like. But I still do need to work on talking a bit slower, as I talk fast often. But doing this did help me when I needed to talk slower because I used to talk fast on everything that I did but now I don't. My fotobabble was effective but the mic wasn't.
READING GRID ACTIVITIES
At our school we have a reading grid which has activities that we do. These are some of the activities.
Below is a document which is a sample of my work that I did with Angus. This activity as you can tell, is called 'Take a Picture'. It involves creating a narrative using certain characters, settings and props to create a narrative.
Our Quiz This is a quiz that Angus, Will and I created. This quiz is about one of the books we read in our Star Group activities. The book that we chose to do was called "One Small Island." Try reading the book and once you've read it, have a go at our quiz. We have also done a Tagxedo on the book and quiz.

I have learnt to create good questions, how to make a multi-choice quiz, creating a "QR Code", understanding parts of books more and reflecting and evaluating work that we did.
I could use a QR code so that my parents could see the work I did in that day. I could also use quizzes to help with projects in all the different subjects/topics that we do at school.
Letter To The Author
This is a reading grid activity called "Letter To The Author!"
This is the letter that I did. The Letter
This activity involves us having write a letter which goes to the author of the book (not literally!) We have to include what we liked about this book, what we didn't like, things about the characters such as the reaction you had to them, if you would recommend this book to a friend and what you liked/didn't like about the main storyline/the plot. This was a fun response to the reading grid activity SSHHH I'M READING!
17/9/2012 Hi Matt. I was looking at the wiki in Hawaii when I noticed you had added some more work, so of course I had to read it to check it out. I loved the way you described the characters "pulling you into the book" and also "getting out of their comfort zone". You complimented the author on different facets of the book and gave your reasons, and also made a couple of thoughtful suggestions to improve the book. You made many interesting points in your letter. I thought you did a great job. Thanks for working so hard independently when I was out of the classroom last week. I'm glad I found your work. Mahalo (thanks in Hawaiian) Pam TERM 4 Book Trailer Task Your task is to create an eye-catching Book Trailer that will promote your book to other students. Use images, video, animation, music and words to create your book trailer. Try to use copyright friendly sources. Your presentation should be between 30 seconds and 2 minutes.
Book Trailer
A Book Trailer is like a movie trailer except you're doing it on a book. As you probably know it is supposed to persuade the person who's seeing it to read the book I will be doing a book called "Percy Jackson and the Battle of the Labyrinth".
The program I will be using is called Windows Movie Maker 2.6
Reflection 1.Whatdid you enjoy most about the task?
I enjoyed using Movie Maker 2.6 to make my movie and finding music from a site called 'Freeplay Music' because the movie maker had a lot of different features which I learned and 'Freeplay Music' had a lot of different music to choose from and was easy to listen to and download.
2. What Was Your Biggest Challenge?
My biggest challenge was when I had to look for copyright free images and music as I was doing Percy Jackson. Also when I was getting some photos they didn't save.
3. What Skills Did You Learn During This Task
I learnt how to find copyright friendly images and music, what the actual definition of copyright is and how I can know if a
copyright image is free.
Speaking And Listening
Learning Intention:
To answer questions orally about a chosen novel
Learning Goal:
To use detail and supporting evidence when speaking abput his/her own opinions and ideas
Progress/Reflection:
Today we practised reading out a question and answering it while the other people in our group rated how we were going.
I now know that I need to speak fluently as I was having a few pauses.
Personal Goal:
My personal goal is to:
Speak fluently without to many pauses or saying 'Um'

This is where I will display my work that I do in reading groups. My Avatar: Captain Rainbow
